Una mesa hecha con desechos / A table made ​​from scrap

Este trabajo lo hice hace varios años. Se trata de una mesa que construí a partir de un tronco de arbol que me encontré en la calle. Ha tenido varias transformaciones. Inicialmente limpié el tronco y le coloqué un vidrio pegado con silicona. Así estuvo por mucho tiempo. Luego cambié el vidrio de 50 cms por un círculo de madera de 60 cms por 1cms de espesor o grosor, bastante delgada la madera. La atornillé al tronco y sin pintar ni hacer otra cosa, la cubri con un mantel redondo que corte especialmente para su tamaño. No se veia mal pero me molestaba cubrir el tronco del arbol que me gusta mucho. Entonces decidí pintar el tope de la mesa.

Comencé pintandola de verde con un acabado envejecido usando envejecedor al agua. Luego hice un decoupage con papel de regalo que me había sobrado, aprovechando para tapar el tornillo de sujeción. También construi un compás de papel algo así como esto y tracé los círculos con lapiz que luego pinté con acrílico marrón y sobre ellos pegué rombos de papel de regalo de 2x2 cms. Parece madera incrustada.

I made this project several years ago. This is a table I built from a tree trunk that I found on the street. It has had several transformations. Initially I cleaned the trunk and placed on it a glass I glued it with silicone. That was long ago. Then I changed the 50 cms glass top by a 60 cms wood top, 1 cms thick or thin, a very thin wood. I screw it  to the trunk and without painting or doing anything else, I covered it with a tablecloth round cut especially for its size. It didn't look bad but it bothered me covering the trunk that I really like. Then I decided to paint the top.
I started painting it green with a distressed finish using bitumen. Then I did a decoupage with wrapping paper I had left, to cover the screw. Also constructed a measure of paper and draw circles in pencil then painted with brown acrylic and glued diamonds made of the same wrapping paper 2x2 cms. Looks like wood inlay. 

Cuando todo estuvo seco, di 4 manos de barniz al aceite para proteger. Todavía no me gustaba algo. Era que el tope se veía desproporcionado, muy delgado para la base de la mesa (tronco). Se me ocurrió que para resolver este asunto le pegaría por debajo de tope en el borde, corchos de botellas de vino que jamás tiro a la basura. Tengo montones coleccionados. Los pegué con pega blanca de carpintero pero recomiendo hacerlos con una pega de mayor agarre. Como se veía bien pero no lo suficientemente grueso, le pegué otra rueda más.

When everything was dried, I gave four coats of oil varnish for protection. But still there were something I disliked. The top was disproportionate, it looked very thin for table base (trunk). It occurred to me to resolve this issue by adding wine bottle corks, below the top edge. I have lots collected, never throw them away. I glued them with wood glue but I recommend to use a stronger one. As it looked good but not thick enough, I glued another more round.

Me gusta tanto el resultado que ahora la tengo en la sala como mesa lateral entre las dos butacas.
I like the result so much that now I have it in the living room as a side table between the two armchairs
